A Thank You Letter from Resiklo Miami

We have reached a big, new point. This is our 100th blog post. We have also served Miami's design world for many years. It feels like the right time to stop. We want to think back. We want to show how thankful we are. We feel so much thanks for all the people who made this trip happen. Resiklo Miami is here for many reasons. We are here because of skilled makers. We are here because of guests who trust us. We are here because of other makers who help. We are here because of a city. A city that loves new ideas and old ways, too. This is our love letter to Miami. It is for every person who has been a part of our story.

 

The Risk That Became Real

Moving from New York to Miami was a very big risk. We were already set up in New York City. We had guests who came back. We had a good name that was growing. Miami was a new place we did not know. We had questions. Would our way of doing things be a good fit? Would it feel right here? Would we find guests who cared about good work? Would they care about work that helps the earth? Could we build the same good friendships with the group? These friendships are what kept us going in New York.

Those questions all have good answers now. Miami said hello to us with open arms. People had minds that wanted to learn. They felt thankful for the things we bring. The risk turned into a real thing. It was much, much better than what we first hoped for. We have made hundreds of pieces. They are for Miami homes. They are for Miami shops. We have built links with guests. These guests have now become our friends. We have added to a group of creative people. This group gives us power. This group gives us new ideas every day.

This good result did not happen just because of us. It happened because of all the people who gave us a try. They shared our story with others. They believed in our idea. They believed that good furniture that helps the earth, made right here, should get help. They believed this even when there were easier, other choices.

Carlos, you are a master. You know the old ways to join wood. You have a skill to pull beauty from hard materials. This makes you a key, key part of our team. Thank you for sharing all the things you have learned. You have learned them over many, many years. Thank you for teaching the newer makers. Thank you for keeping your standards very high, with no compromise. You do this even when a simple path is there.

Maria, you are an expert at the finish. Your skill changes built furniture into a full piece of art. Thank you for being so patient. You are patient with custom colors that are hard to get right. You are willing to do work over. You do this when it does not meet the high standards. Thank you for the small, nice touches you add. Most people never see them with their eyes. But every person feels them.

David, you are great at fixing design problems. Your skill with how things are made builds a bridge. It links the guest's big idea to the real, physical thing. Thank you for your patience that never ends. You have this patience with needs that change. You find creative answers to problems that seem like they cannot be fixed. Thank you for caring so much about finding green wood. This gives our words a real, true feeling.

You do this even when big, global shops are just an easy click away. Thank you for caring about design. This makes people ask for good quality. It makes people cheer for good hand-work.

Thank you for sun all year. Thank you for a life lived outdoors. Thank you for your past of warm, modern style. All these things give us new ideas for our look. Thank you for all the small areas. Each one has its own special feel. This gives us many groups of people to serve. Thank you for always growing. Thank you for always changing. This makes the flow of materials. This flow gives us our old, saved wood.
